Omnichannel strategy for pharma
Most omnichannel is multichannel
in a better suit.
The promise of omnichannel is real. What most brands are running is more channels, more complexity and the same results. We close that gap by making the complex simple, and the simple impactful.
The problem in four numbers
Everyone agrees it matters. Few can show it works.
The industry has spent a decade and a great deal of money on omnichannel. In one survey of senior executives at top-100 pharma companies, almost 80% said it had little to no impact on customer engagement.⁵ The idea is sound. The execution is where it breaks: too many channels, too many owners and no single number holding them together.
The test
Five questions to ask of your omnichannel today.
You don’t need us to find out where you stand. Ask these five questions and listen to the answers.
If you don’t like the answers, don’t fire your agency. Most of these are questions no agency is built or paid to answer. The fix is not a new partner list. It is a better approach, run by the partners you already have.
HCP omnichannel
One plan. One number.
Fewer HCPs see reps, and those who do see fewer companies. Half of accessible HCPs now meet with three or fewer.¹ A rep’s time in front of the customer is the scarcest asset a brand has, and non-personal promotion is too often planned by a different team, funded from a different budget and measured on a different dashboard.
We blend personal selling and non-personal promotion into one plan, held to one number. The rep and the non-personal plan are one sales effort. We run them that way.
Patient omnichannel
A2A: from Awareness to Adherence.
Patients do not experience a brand as campaigns. They experience a path, and they can leave it at any step. We plan the patient side as one journey with one owner, from the first time a patient hears about a condition to the months they stay on therapy.
Direct-to-patient is patient omnichannel in its most complete form. The brand owns the experience and the data from first touch to refill, which makes it the clearest test of whether the journey works. HCP and patient plans meet in the exam room. We plan them so they arrive with the same story.
The 6Ws
Six questions. Answered before a dollar moves.
Most omnichannel plans start with the channel. Ours starts with the reason. Why is the north star: asked first, and asked again at the end as the check on everything in between.
Why
What outcome are we here to move? The north star. Every target, message and channel has to ladder up to it.
Who
Which HCPs and patients hold the most opportunity? Targets and segments ranked by opportunity, not list size.
What
What does each segment need to hear? Content and messaging tailored to the target and the segment.
Where
Which channel, or combination of channels, will be effective? The mix of personal and non-personal that works for that segment.
When
What is the right moment? Timing, so each touch lands when it can change a decision.
Why, again
Does this combination of targets and experiences drive positive ROI at scale? The check. If the answer is no, the plan changes before the spend does.
Simple questions. The discipline is in answering them in order, with data, and refusing to skip the last one.
Our role
The firm recommending your channel mix shouldn’t be the one selling it.
Omnichannel runs on good partners. Agencies make the content and buy the media. Platforms hold the data and trigger the next action. Consultancies design the model and install the technology. Each is paid on its piece, so each has a reason to recommend more of it. Kairos Meridian sells none of those pieces. We set the plan, hold every partner to it, and stay to run it with your team. Our only product is the outcome.
Kairos Meridian Approach
Three principles behind every plan.
A great ROI on a small number is still a small number.
Where AI fits
Omnichannel + AI = Optichannel.
Omnichannel connects the channels. AI makes the connection faster and sharper. Put together, the brand stops trying to be everywhere and starts being in the right place, for the right customer, sooner than a planning cycle allows. We call that optichannel.
AI does not replace the 6Ws. It answers them faster.
Nearly every brand now has an orchestration engine, and every one of them is AI-driven. That is the point. When everyone carries the same club, the club stops being the advantage. A new driver does not fix a swing. The driver is an enabler, and the same is true of the engine: it carries out the plan it is given, and it cannot tell a good plan from a poor one.
Perspectives
The thinking behind the work.
Short, practical reads from people who have planned, run and measured omnichannel programs inside pharma. Each one takes on a question brand teams are asking right now: what the channels are really delivering, how field and non-personal work as one plan, and where AI fits.
Who we are
Strategy, marketing and analytics with a dose of innovation, all in service of impact.
Kairos Meridian is staffed by leaders who have built, fixed and scaled omnichannel programs from both the client and agency side. We have run the field coordination, the marketing automation and the analytics ourselves, which is why our plans are ones a team can carry out.

FAQ
Omnichannel questions brand teams ask Kairos Meridian.
Straight answers.
What is omnichannel in pharma?
Omnichannel in pharma is the practice of planning every interaction with an HCP or patient, personal and non-personal, as one connected experience. Each touch builds on the last, and all of them are measured against one business outcome such as prescriptions, new patient starts or revenue.
What is the difference between omnichannel and multichannel?
Multichannel means a brand is present in many channels, usually planned and measured separately. Omnichannel means those channels are planned together around the customer, sequenced on purpose and held to one number. The difference is coordination and accountability, not the number of channels.
What is optichannel?
Optichannel is omnichannel made faster and more selective by AI. Kairos Meridian defines it as Omnichannel + AI: the same connected plan, with AI shortening the time from signal to decision so the brand concentrates on the channels and moments that matter most. A new name does not fix execution. The plan still comes first.
Do we need a new orchestration engine to do omnichannel well?
Usually not. Most brands already own an AI-driven orchestration engine, and the engines are converging. Results depend on the plan, the data and the team’s willingness to act on the recommendations. Kairos Meridian is platform agnostic: we work with the engine you have and sell none of our own.
How is AI used in pharma omnichannel?
AI helps teams see signals sooner, decide faster and learn from every cycle. Common uses are identifying which HCPs or patients to prioritize, recommending the next best action and speeding up analysis. AI works when the plan and the data underneath it are clear. It does not replace either.
How do you measure omnichannel performance?
Start with the outcome the brand is accountable for: prescriptions, new patient starts or revenue. Then pick a short set of leading indicators that predict it, and assign one hero metric. Opens, clicks and call counts show activity. They become useful only when tied to the outcome.
Why do omnichannel programs fail?
Most fail on execution, not ambition. Field and marketing plan separately, each partner optimizes its own piece, technology is bought before the plan is written, and results are reported as activity. Without one owner and one number, coordination stays a slide and never becomes how the team works.
How do HCP and patient omnichannel work together?
HCP omnichannel blends personal selling with non-personal promotion. Patient omnichannel covers the path from awareness to adherence, including direct-to-patient programs. They meet at the point of care, so both plans should carry the same story and be measured against the same brand outcome.
How should a small or mid-size pharma company approach omnichannel?
Start with the plan, not the platform. Answer the 6Ws for one brand, use the channels and partners already in place, and prove impact before adding technology. A focused plan run well will outperform an enterprise program a small team cannot staff.
How is Kairos Meridian different from an agency or consultancy?
Agencies, platforms and consultancies are each paid on a piece of the program: content, media, licenses or hours. Kairos Meridian doesn’t buy media, produce creative, license a platform or staff a field force. We set the plan, hold every partner to one number and work for a fixed fee against a written mandate, with no commissions, markups or referral fees.
What does an omnichannel consultant do?
Kairos Meridian builds the strategy and business case, pressure-tests existing plans, integrates field and non-personal promotion, resets measurement, and provides embedded leadership to run the program. The work is done alongside the brand team and its partners, and judged on impact.
